The Logic of Your Beliefs

Do you believe the universe was simply an accident?

  • Yes:  Then nothing in life has meaning, and you should not waste effort convincing others of your belief system – it doesn’t matter
  • No:  If the universe was not accidental then you must face the reality of a universe with a Purpose

If the universe was designed and created for a purpose, then there must be a Designer/Creator. Should this have any effect on your life, beliefs or destiny?

  • No:  Then you are simply a waste by-product of the creation process, with no obligation to the Creator. Likewise, the Creator has no obligations to you. You have no right to then question or be angry about the way the universe “is”, and therefore cannot criticize others with a different perspective on Eternity than your own.

  • Yes:  Then you must consider what your obligations are to your Creator. Should you listen to and obey what is communicated to you by nature or revelation from the Creator?

Of the likely ways our Creator would communicate to us individually and collectively, what seems most consistent with observable reality?
  • What feels right
  • What government tells you
  • “voices in our heads”
  • Nature – General Revelation
  • Our consciences Special Revelation – direct transmission via writing or via prophets

Given man’s true moral condition, which religion most accurately reflects the nature of a Creator and His expectations for us individually and collectively, and has withstood the test of logic, reason, science and global history?

  • Hinduism – is there any relevance to the world outside of India? Are there any historical and factual errors in the “Vedas” or direct transmissions from “God”? Does reincarnation and karma explain our purpose or the reality of life? Does 6 billion gods make sense?
  • Shintoism/Animism – are your ancestors really gods?
  • Buddhism – will chanting / works gain your way to heaven? What relevance to 95% of the world not familiar with Buddhism?

The greatest minds and seekers of truth throughout history have tended to conclude a personal Creator with a specific purpose outlined for our lives individually and collectively is responsible for our existence. This Creator is not human and transcends space/time. That leaves two major belief systems:
  • Judaism/Christianity
  • Islam
Which of these belief systems is more objectively accurate historically, scientifically, and most importantly, morally?

Those are your choices.
